The Washington Center for Human Rights, a renowned think tank and platform for international policy discussions, organized a highly acclaimed congressional briefing titled “Review of the Human Rights Condition in the UAE.” The event took place on February 15th from 3 to 4 p.m., providing much time for in-depth analysis and discussion. Held at the prestigious 1101 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC. 

The event drew the attention of policymakers, scholars, and citizens. During the briefing, a prominent panel of experts delved into the complex dynamics covering the human rights conditions in the UAE. 

Nussaiba Mubarak, the Government Relations Manager for the Institute for Middle East Understanding, acted as the moderator of the briefing. The panelists included renowned speakers: Saif Al Mothana, Advocacy Relations Director at the Washington Center for Human Rights; Giorgio Cafiero, CEO of Gulf State Analytics and Adjunct Assistant Professor at George Washington University; and Raed Jarrar, Advocacy Director at Democracy for the Arab World Now.

The speakers discussed various aspects of the human rights conditions in the UAE. The event caught commendable participation from attendees, reflecting the widespread praise of its significance in addressing pressing global issues. Furthermore, the public response to the event was overwhelmingly favorable.

During the briefing session, the speakers passionately expressed their concerns and condemnation regarding the blatant violations of human rights committed by the UAE. With dynamic voices and compelling arguments, they emphasized various instances where fundamental human rights were systematically violated within the UAE’s jurisdiction. 

From issues of freedom of expression to concerns about labor rights and political dissent, the speakers shed light on the multifaceted dimensions of the human rights crisis in the UAE. 

Their impassioned remarks stressed the urgent need for accountability, transparency, and meaningful reforms to address the systemic violations and ensure the protection of basic human rights for all individuals within the UAE’s borders.
