The hypocrisy of MBS: Prioritizing political gains over Palestinian rights

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman and US Secretary Antony Blinken met privately recently. In this meeting, the Saudi Prince admitted that the Arab government, including Saudi Arabia, didn’t support Palestine. This statement highlights the dual behavior of Saudi nations. The country is more focused on its interests than helping the needy Palestinians.

On the same day, Israel attempted an attack to kill ‌Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beruit. This incident impacts Iran very badly. It weakens its power in the region. Instead of assisting the Palestinians, Saudi Arabia is being taken advantage of the situation. They want to get closer to Israel for their interests. This closeness with Israel proves beneficial for Saudi Arabia politically. The nation does not care about justice but cares more about making deals.

Saudi Prince Mohammad Bin Salman shared his personal views with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. He said, saying that he does not care about Palestinians’ sufferings. He mentioned that Plaestinina’s issues are not a big deal for him, but that many people in the nation care about them. The younger generation greatly supports Palestinians.

He also showed concern about his intentions. MBS wants to normalize relations with Israel, but how will the Saudi public react to it? He also mentioned that he wouldn’t mind if Israel continued its military operations in Gaza after a peace deal, but he suggested delaying those actions. This indicates that the Crown Prince is more concerned about his image and popularity than the rights of Palestinians.

Saudi officials have denied these comments, but this reveals a troubling lack of support for the Palestinian cause. It suggests that the prince wants to achieve his political goal and never cares about the well-being of innocents who suffer a lot from conflict.

According to a 14 August report, MBS showed its desire to US lawmakers. He wants to boost his partnership with Israel but also cares about his safety. He expressed fear that Saudi citizens might react violently to this decision. This is because former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat ‌lost his life after signing the peace deal with Israel.

Furthermore, in this meeting, he also mentioned that he believed that the American government could play a vital role in improving the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Israel. He thinks this is only possible under Democratic leadership, with help from progressive lawmakers. They would expect Israel and the Palestinians to talk more together. One of the Saudi officials shows opposition to the views of Mohammad Bin Salman. He said that he knows the intentions of his nation. The country will work with Israel if and only if a Palestinian state is created. The capital of the state will be ‌East Jerusalem.

However, this position seems more about keeping his power than truly helping the Palestinian people. He wants to keep his citizens happy while quietly trying to build a relationship with Israel. This raises doubts about how much he cares about the Palestinian cause.

If Saudi Arabia becomes successful in making a peace deal with Israel, the Palestinians” issues might not be discussed in the news. People worry that unhappy Palestinians could become violent, but without Hamas in Gaza and probably no Hezbollah in Lebanon, things are different. Israel also aims to make peace agreements with ‌nearby Arab countries first, then thinks about the Palestinian issue. However, the Abraham Accord is the first step to executing this plan. On the first line, Israel’s president Benjamin Netanyahu and then-US former president Donald Trump pushed this strategy.

Few leaders, like the Saudi Crown Prince, talk openly about Palestinians. The King of Jordan and the President of Egypt also don’t seem to care, even though the Palestinian issue affects their countries more than it does Saudi Arabia. This shows that Saudi Arabia and its allies are more focused on their interests than on helping the Palestinians, which highlights their lack of concern for their suffering.
